    Hi there from Belgium,

This item belonged to my parents and was bought in the 1950's (Xmas present from my father to my mother who loved them). There are in good shape... I would like to know what the value could be. Each piece is about 3" long and the cab is about 1" wide. Apparently made by Hoten, Yokohama - hallmark is a rising son. Salt&pepper1.jpg Salt&pepper2.jpg Salt&pepper1.jpg Salt&pepper2.jpg

    Can't help with the artist.

Without any research, based solely on silver and cuteness, store price in CA, I would price in the $50 plus range.
Would weight them before pricing, to make sure silver weight is covered and go from there. Might be more than 50.

    Hi, Belgaqueen, and welcome!

I don't know what the market is like in Belgium, but here in the US, silver prices are pretty low these days. There was a time when your charming rickshaw set would have brought a much higher price that it would today...

On eBay USA, there are sellers asking $200+ for these sets, but they're not selling very well. A price of $80-$100 seems to be what works (which to me is pathetic!)

    These are some currently listed:

Here's a set similar to yours that isn't selling:

...and a pair that sold, but I can't see for how much:

    Personally, I find them charming!

I also want to mention that these are all marked "950 STERLING" which is a higher percentage of silver-to-alloy than the "925" sterling standard. (Not unusual in Japan.)

The rising sun mark belongs to Asahi Shoten (shoten means shop/store), Yokohama and Tokyo, they are still in business...
