No idea what this is ( as per)
( don't think it's old,it was just in my boxes and was intrigued) x
Nothing seems to unscrew...it's five inches . The top does turn
    [IMG]

This is very light ( could it be pinchbeck perhaps?)
It's hollow with what looks like enamel missing from the front.
Mans's size,no markings, not attracted to a magnet

I got this in a detecting lot...it's all the same colour despite my pics. It has what looks like a full hallmark but it's really worn .
    Not attracted to magnet

These I LOVE but they have a slightly weird vibe...no idea what or why but they unnerve me a but.
They are approx an inch and a half ... feel like a very cold heavy glass

    This is interesting...must be glass
It has two little balls that roll around in the back compartment ...why are they there I wonder?
It's 2 inches across and an inch & a half down
Missing some teeny blue *stones* at the front.
    Not attracted to magnet

    Nice baubbles, Bou!
Your 1st is a celluloid hat pin (to ornate berets or cloche hats) 1920s/1930s
Just pull one end (suspect the long one!) to open it:)
2th is pinchbeck shells laminated on a more hard metal core.
3th appears to be gold... You'll have to test;)
4th may be bowenite, stone, jade lookalike:cyclops:
    5th... mystery:bucktooth:
6th Yes! Cut steel, old one with all bits individually riveted, needing a little polish with thin steel wool to get rid of the rust, then wax or oil.
7th Czech opaline glass, very pretty, you may glue any convenient size rhinestones to finish it. No idea for the rattling balls inside:(

Love the first one, BTW. I also believe pin pulls out of the pointed end.

Think more accurate to say it has some stones. Isn't it missing nearly all of them? They're not the main attraction anyway.

The hat pin, it may not pull to open, sometimes these are threaded and you have to twirl the end to get it off :)

Those Tudor rose bits have British design registry numbers on the back. It ought to be possible to trace it if you really want to. If you can read the whole number, a check of registration numbers in the back of a pottery book will give you an approximate date they were designed. (easiest place I know of to look for the list but it's on line too)
