    Hi All,
I remember reading another thread with something like this from Jaccard's.
I bought these three 7 1/2" plated. But they also have the unique German Guarantee or copyright mark.
I figure they are late 19th Century. 1890's?

The one portrait is of Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire by Gainsborough. The other appears to be an interpretation of a portrait of Marie Antoinette after Vigée Le Brun.

I'm thinking these are older than what I originally thought.

It was interesting reading. The question is when did they change their mark on items to Mermod Jaccards?

    Thank you INH.
Another thing I noticed. here are the portraits of Georgiana. Are these hand painted. Close ups show differences?

I think I remember @dgbjwc saying transfers can be partially hand-painted. Don’t know if that’s the case here. Do you see dots?

    To my eye, they're transfers.

150 year old transfer looks like crackling paint.

Sorry can't really help. I did find examples of the RL Dresden mark some with a fleur de lis. Rontgen's shows it as unidentified decorator's mark.

Thank you S.I.S. My research is leading me to believe these were sold out of one of the St Louis locations and before the mergers and splits. I am finding four marks so far.
Mermod Jaccard's I found two. Jaccard's Kansas City one. And mine with no city attribution. Just an educated guess but it makes sense to me.

Thanks for the call, INH. I agree these are transfers. The only hand painting I see might be the gold frame around the portrait and the gilding along the edge. Transfers were hand applied and often show subtle differences depending on the skill of the person doing the application. The work was done quickly since it was often paid by the piece.

That's okay. Thanks everyone. Hand painted was too much to put in the title anyway. Lol
