Roseville pottery please help

Discussion in 'Pottery, Glass, and Porcelain' started by Jax Moving and Storage, Apr 22, 2017.

  1. A local dealer here who said he had knowledge of Roseville pottery couldn't give me any information but proceeded to try to buy it. Can someone tell me if there is any information on this big pot? If so is it worth selling because I know Roseville has gone down in price over the years. Thank you for any information. As always I am constantly learning from you guys. You all are amazing!

In this case "Roseville Ohio" is the town not the company. RRP Co is the mark of Robinson Ransbottom Pottery Company.

  3. Wow I had no idea that's great thank you so much even the dealer said it was Roseville so I figured it was a Roseville because we had a couple other bases from Roseville

I would avoid that dealer (at least for pottery) in future. ;)

If he is buying RRPCo. at Roseville prices, I wouldn't avoid him ;)

  6. I found a couple websites for this actual pot 412–11 supposedly it's circa 1930 and very rare and there is also a matching pedestal that I don't have what would you say I should list the starting bid at? I can't thank you enough I've been in the dark about this beautiful pot for over a year

  7. Hey Brad know he was trying to lowball me he actually got away with a Roseville Vase at a price that I was upset about oh well that was in the past before I have been learning all this new stuff from all you guys now I know that's not even Roseville the different manufacture altogether circa 1930s and very rare came with pedestal but I don't believe we have that at least I haven't found it yet in the house

Looks like an interesting piece. Unfortunately I don't know RRP very well.

The pattern is called Tweed. Sanford's guide puts it at 1955-68.

    Hi,
I collect RRPCo # 1400 it is called everything from Starburst to Sunrise to Palmetto and everything in between. I have seen it marked RARE Roseville and priced from 100 bucks to 2 thousand!!!! It comes in 4" to 22". I have amassed over 50 pieces with seven different bottom marking including none, done later.

There was a pot like yours on eBay that was requesting $50 but accepted a best offer. If it were mine I'd probably try it at about $35. RRP generally does not sell well for me but it usually does sell eventually.

    Hi,
Han an antique mall open up near me here in Brick. Most of it was so overpriced it was ridiculous. One lady and I use the term loosely, had a RRPCo #1400 jardiniere and stand for 750 bucks. I tried to explain to her it was NOT extremely rare Roseville Pottery as she had it marked. I explained the pottery was in Roseville Ohio. She looked at me as if I lost my mind. A few weeks later I was in the mall and I noticed she had a wonderful old Roseville ewer marked art pottery at 15 dollars. I bought it and sold it the next day for 300 to a collector friend. I wondered why the mall went out of business within 6 months.

From what I have noticed Roseville pottery is more of a dull matte color with distinct paint swipes. This looks to be more of a glossy piece which is unlike Roseville pottery
