    Hello everyone!

I'm trying to date a teacup I bought recently and I can't seem to find any reference to the backstamp's design on the internet. I know that Thomas Poole started using Stafford China stamps aound 1912, but I don't find any reference to this specific stamp. Here are some pictures.

    Any clue?
    Thanks,

Appears Royal Stafford may have formed in 1992. Your cup doesn't say Royal Stafford China, just Royal Stafford.

Is this a demitasse size cup?
If so it would fit with mid 1990s espresso coffee craze. Color would be right.

I may be wrong wait for other replies.

    From the Royal Stafford website:

"The Royal Stafford brand was established in 1845..."
    and
"Please note: There used to be a company called Royal Stafford China but they went out of business in 1992 and we do not have any historical information on their patterns or dates. Our company only makes high-fired English Earthenware since 1994."

Yours looks like an older piece to me. I think the words "Made in", which yours doesn't have, were required by the early 1920s?

I think that's an older style backstamp, probably 1920s. Coffee.

It is a full size cup, so coffee seems right. Thanks for your answers, I'm glad to learn it is older than I thought!

It may have been part of a harlequin set. There was a thing for having the same shape but multiple colours in a set.
