Featured Russian? Fun painting on canvas still life w/miniatures

Purchased at auction in Atlanta. I thought it was fun. Label on back from O'karma Jones Company here in Atlanta. They do custom framing and restoration. A bit pricey but they do really nice work. The miniatures (toys?) don't exactly seem Russian but the name on the back at first glace made me think Russian. The work is approx.35 x 42 inches. Thanks for looking!

 

Given that the little horses remind me of the Dala Swedish horses that show up here occasionally, I'll take a WAG and suggest Finland, maybe Karelia.

The writing on the back is indeed in Russian.
The artist's name is G. Vereshchagin. Under that it says "White Lilac." "Toys"

There was a famous artist named Vasily Vasilyevich Vereshchagin. This is not his work (plus the first initial is different). In a quick search, there were so many sites about Vasily that it was hard to find others with that name. I did find information about a carver from the 18th century and a modern photographer with that surname. Neither had the first initial G.

Great find! Russian doesn't have a letter equivalent to H, and they usually use the letter equiv to G instead. I had forgotten that.
