Hello Board Friends - I am hoping someone can tell me something about this cup and saucer. I think it might be Russian. I'm not sure if it relates to a Russian folk tale or not. The painting shows three different colored horses pulling a sled with a male driver and a female passenger. If I have this figured right the first line is the title of the story, the second line might indicate year painted. and the third line is the initials of the artist. The cup stands 3" tall and the saucer measures 4 3/4" across. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you!
    Don

    First word is 'Troika'.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Second line says "June 1993" and am not positive about the last line. I think the initials are A. F. but could be something different.

I know that pictures of troikas are popular in Russian lacquered objects, so why not something like this? :)

I think the initials are A.Y. (А.Ю.) It looks like author's porcelain to me.

Is the scene handpainted? Wondering if it was painted by AY on a blank with gilding.

As far as I can tell it is all hand painted but it could have been done on a gilded blank.
