Rustic pot and wooden warmer?

If these two belong together (this is how they were found when bought) I'm guessing that the contents of the pot were heated and then the pot was put in the wooden stand to retain heat.

    Wood stand 6.5 inches tall

Has anyone seen something similar or is this a marriage and the stand is really a jardiniere?

Seems to be a marriage of the 2. I like the handled ceramic (soup?) bowl

For me it looks more like something for cooling and then keeping in wood stand. Maybe some old container for ice cream or something else... Handle is too short for heating and also there is no any wear from "fire" at the wood handle.

I'm wondering if the pot is the inner part of an old double boiler. The bottom would have held water, and this piece inserted--used to melt chocolate, heat delicate sauces, etc. Regardless, I believe it's a marriage.
