Sad Clown Letter Holder? Thread Dispenser?

    Hi Antiquers,
    No Clowning Around. I need your help.
    Material ~Clay? Ceramic?
    Signed PP. Copyright. 1982.
    The area behind the eyes is hollow.
    It has a single hole to hang.
    I have tried to find a way to open it but, if one is there, it's elusive.
    I've twisted his hat, arms and neck. No movement.
    I hope someone recognizes this clown and or the mark PP. Any help, advice or suggestions would help.

    I don't think it is meant to hold/dispense anything. Nor do I think it is meant to hang. Think it is just a goofy clown figurine to gather dust with.
