Saddle Blanket of some kind?

This came with the rugs I posted earlier. I assume it is some kind of saddle blanket. Anyone have any idea of age and origin?

 

A set of saddle bags, also called camel bags, have you tried if the two panels open, like bags?

 

ya....i wouldn't sit on that ....

 

Maybe with your feet inside the bags, to keep them warm. I imagine your knees would thump against your chin with every step the horse takes though.

Double Shahvasan sumac/soumak bag, they’re also used as cushions, one half on the floor and the other against the wall.
