Starting out my early American pewter collection with a plate. Curious what the safest way to display them was? Would the acrylic plate stands be an ok option? Open to suggestions thanks

What are you thinking might be "unsafe" about this method?

It may be helpful to look at some museum websites and see what they do.

I like the metal stands with the rubberized coating......

    pewter is heavy...acrylic is light.....

Pewter isn't "heavy" in the grand scheme of things. I don't know about "metal stands with rubberized coating." I use wooden stands.

You should be careful, though, to move the plates once in a while so the surface sitting on the stand or a shelf if you are not using a stand does not flatten. Pewter can be much softer than you might think.
