said to be an incense burner from TOkugawa clan but not sure where the identification comes from.

Depending on Size? Could be a tealight candle holder light?

Very cool looking item. So not sure: ‘Who said’ But where did you get it from? So are you sure this is in some way authentic? (I have limited knowledge,so just asking) What is the presumed age of this then? Wow,I see members of the Tokugawa clan ruled Japan 1603-1867.

Certainly looks like the Tokugawa clan mon. It is bronze?

Found a similar looking one. Japanese bronze censer lamp. Meiji period 1868-1912. Also has the embellishments and flower like bells. 47,5 cm in height.

Will wait and see what the other more knowledgeable members say regarding ID and authenticity. :)

Very nice, sunday. I would think it is the same period as the one Boland found.
Imperial and Shogun's Mons can be a reference to the ruler and period, rather than put on objects belonging to the ruler.;)

During, and after the Meiji period, the Tokugawa mon was used on lots of items intended for the European market, so unfortunately this is no indication of quality or ownership.
The quality of this piece just doesn't seem good enough for the Japanese market to my eyes. Sorry about that. But I think it was made post Meiji period for export. That said, I am certainly no expert!
