The 'tow' looks like either glass fibres or asbestos fibres. It would need to be fireproof to insulate the burning white cord, which is possibly dipped in a potassium nitrate solution.

It was so much more fun before product liabilty was invented.

Anyone remember 'indoor fireworks'? They were never all that impressive but you had to give them points for trying.

I do NOT remember "indoor fireworks"...!

What are the fibers made of?

I recall indoor fireworks, even recall when the large box caught fire in our kitchen when a rocket went through the open door!!

The fibres? Hadnt given it a thought until af's post. Now, maybe glass fibre but I wont be taking any (more) chances.

I don't remember indoor fireworks either. Maybe it's a Brit thing.

I am old enough to remember indoor fireworks in the UK. A few years ago I got a boxful in a box lot in auction.I think they were from the 1930's. There was a big one which promised to explode like a volcano with a shower of presents included. It was a bit of a damp squib, but the little presents were quite good. Of the christmas cracker variety.

Makes you think what other nasties lie in wait for us.

I recall my mother's ironing board with the asbestos end for the hot iron.

One thing I seem to find in medical lots is used sharps. Have to be so careful both when rummaging and unpacking.

    Cheers Figtree!

All I read about this makes me wonder why someone thought it was a good idea to make it!!

I have consigned my Salamanders Breath to the deeps,
having decided that this should not be sold
