I worked at Penny Lane coffee house in Boulder, CO in the late 80s. Nirvana played there in 89, I was working the counter that night and have this handbill stashed away. They were relatively unknown then and traveling in a vw bus.

At the time they were just another grunge band to me. Hard to remember details but I always had a great time no matter who played, pretty sure we were all tripping. I do remember they set up too close to the men’s room door and I had to tell Kurt to move it. Penny Lane was just one big room, the stage was close to the counter so when I wasn’t serving lattes and cigarettes I would catch the all happenings.
Allen Ginsberg reading poetry, Jello Biafra screaming and ranting and Big Head Todd were more memorable for me than Nirvana at the time.

    Nice ones!!!

I believe I still have all of my posters too. Lots of promo posters. The record store across the street from my high school would give away all the promo stuff. I was late 90’s at that point though, not early. I have a big stack of the 12”x12” promo posters. I only wish I had taken more. I’d try to be modest back then. I should still have all my big posters I purchased too. I had a big Hole poster and a big Garbage poster. Shirley & Courtney my two crushes at the time. Hahaha. There was a big nirvana poster too. I was the worlds biggest nirvana maniac at the time. I still love the music, the idolization has passed. I just can’t believe you don’t love the Bleach era, that’s my favorite album of theirs.

These are the three mentioned above. I believe my parents saved them. They dismantled my cave while I was out sowing oats. I seem to recall them being good about preservation. 1A655E3E-C35A-471E-8AA0-8EC9EE9112A4.jpeg D6F3D800-AD58-4E7E-895A-1B64EA7D6EB1.jpeg 90B28965-3FA8-40BF-96E9-66DF662D7EE7.jpeg
