This is small, not sure what the orange stone is. Very tiny pearls.

I think it is a fur clip. What is the mark on the edge?

It's a dress clip, fur clips have 2 prongs on the clip mechanism, like 2 pin stems:

:oops::oops::oops: & I knew that too. :bag::bag::bag::bag: I am going to blame it on a total lack of focus today from a horrible sleepless night. :p:p:p

Dress clip. Nice one, too. Might be moulded glass.

That's what I was thinking, doubly so since the "pearls" are painted glass. Or were painted glass. The back looks "funny" for glass and the color is off for amber. Carved Prystal bakelite?

Was the stone part a button at one time? Neat piece!

The metal was always a dress clip, but they may have done matching pins or buttons or whatever.

I think this is actually a stone. Going to try to clean the sterling a little better. Thank you everyone for your input!

The stone is an old Chinese ornament with 2 holes as a button.
    Maybe carnelian, maybe amber.
The thing was mounted in China for export during 1930s, the clip must be a replacement.

Another vote for carnelian, a Chinese favourite.
Those were originally sewn on clothing, purely decorative, not used as buttons. When the old style clothing was no longer worn, these ornaments were set into jewellery.
I have some jade ones set in jewellery.
