Sciacca? coral bead cross pendant

Another purchase of the week. A cross of coral beads set on silver arms, sold to me as late 19th century. It has almost identical color to one of my Momo coral necklaces.

Does anyone one know how precisely these beads are set onto the silver arms? Pinned? Because I get a bit paranoid about the possibility of them falling off lol.

Agree, those are late 19th-ca 1900.

Yes, they are set on prongs that go into holes in the back.

I have seen many brooches where one or more of these coral 'pills' are missing, so you are right to be careful. Just keep checking if the glue still holds. I'm sure you'll feel a bit of a wiggle before one actually falls off.

Would love to see them all together

Well I am keeping checking them and feel no movement so far, but after each check I always feel it might get a bit loosen because of that, then another check I need to lock it up in my display cabinet to prevent further check, then!

 

Before I lock it away… I just add a few tiny drops of fish glue to the back hope they’ll help hold up the beads a bit!
