This is a screen of some sort, and measures apprx 11"x15" (28x35cm).

It's a gold-ish fabric-like screen (doesn't seem metallic), glued to a flexible, ornate cut-out design. I don't think that part's wood. Some sort of plastic or resin, maybe. I simply don't know. But it does seem old...

I found it at a super-weird estate sale here in Portland Oregon. It was taped over a vent, high up on the wall near the ceiling. The runner and I had to get a ladder to get it down. At this sale I also bought a plaster and paper mache human torso, which I painted and sold as 'art'.... as I said, a weird sale.

Anyway, I'd appreciate any suggestions as to what this is. Thank you in advance.

Ditto, the fabric looks like older loudspeaker fabric, which is a specific weave. The thick grille is not great for sound transmission, but it does protect the speakers.

Years ago I refinished an old tube radio cabinet and was a little surprised that some of the decorative elements were a stained hard plastic.

I don't specifically remember the grill as I think i gave it away back in the 90s.

Here is something similar to the one i had, just as an example if it helps.

Wow-- amazing. I never woulda guessed (either one!).

It sure does look like the speaker fabric I'm seeing online.

Those old radios are pretty stylish. I see some very sleek Deco ones online. I can understand why people collect them.

ok, I’m going with an old air duct vent repurposed into an old radio speaker grill.

Must've missed it-sounds like you transformed it into a cool piece of Op Art.Dumping the detritus to keep funding the campaign to find the 'One Big Item'.
PS-I bet it looked like a prop from The Monkees TV show when you were done with it !
