    Hi Ejm.

It looks like you may be trying to link to an imgur gallery. Please copy the direct URL(s) to the photo(s) and use them in your post.

We were all beginners once. Here's your photograph in Full Image (which you'll want to be sure and use in the future.) Someone's sure to come along and ask for more. A photograph of the full screen, for instance. And, as this is an international forum, information about where the screen was found. (The UK? The US?)

Oh goodness - I am not sure I am cut out for the technology - many thanks Deborah.
This was owned and belonged to my grandfather who was a well known sculptor in London. He was of Russian descent and lived and worked with many artists from all over the world. Have no idea where it was made or originated.

    It's lovely.
@Bronwen will be able to tell you who the pictures depict.

A picture showing the full screen would be helpful.
From what little I can see. Appears that it is painted black. I'm going to Guess late 1800s to early 1900s. Until we can see more of it.

Be sure to check back as people come and go at all hours here.

The engravings are of classical Old Master paintings. Do need more photos, but I'm inclined to late 19th.

From what I can see, left it Venus/Aphrodite & Cupid/Eros; the other is Cupid & Psyche. Neoclassical probably. Bouguereau did several versions, but I don't think this is one of them.

thank you - I have found that they were by Samuel Shelley - 'love wounded' and 'love healed' but no idea about the printing on silk...

Just for the future, always helpful to photograph items against a neutral background. I now see a two-panelled screen. Are those folding shelves on the front?

Apologies - yes there are two panels hinged with two narrow hinged pull-down shelves

Both prints are after paintings by Samuel Shelley. The one on the left is "Love Wounded", on the right "Love Healed"

Thanks yes - I have detailed that above - they are printed on silk - just wanted to try and date the prints and printmaker.

I don't always interpret things correctly.
The first link that Debora showed - states John Young was the engraver. Did he do the print on silk or was that taken from Young's engravings by someone else.

Looks like there is something written on the silk. Left side looks like S. Shelley

    @Ejm
Can you see any writing on your silks? If not can they be removed without ruining the back of the screen?

With this information, I agree with Owned these are earlier.

Would think circa 1890 aesthetic movement with ebonized finish.

Brad, do you know what purpose the shelves would serve?

Young was the publisher. Robert Cooper made the print, per British Museum.

Seems being the publisher can mean being the engraver:

It is the pendant to Love Healed. Both were published by the mezzotint engraver John Young on 14 March 1798.
