The picture, according to the seller, was under dark varnish and partially under records. Dark varnish and records have been removed. And on a picture new varnish has been put.

The picture is painted on a board. The signature semi-erased I can't sort.

Whether it is possible to learn who the author of a picture and what approximately time?

I'll try to find out from the seller. Perhaps they erased the signature?

    Well, I bought a painting.

I like it. But that's not really helpful, I guess.

I do consider it a possibility that more than just the signature got lost in the cleaning. But I do not recognize it and I can't make enough sense of what's left of the signature to find out anything.

The seller writes that before the clearing, X-rays were made.

The signature and before the clearing was in very poor condition. Plus, the picture was a layer of newer painting. X-ray showed records of the old painting.

He said that the sky was cleared, and some other parts of the picture. In some parts they did not dare touch, they left the upper layer of painting.

Well, the seller said, gave the painting to the museum restorers. They made an x-ray picture, and discovered a "new" layer of painting.

They removed it mostly, they left it only on the crest of the wave.

That is, the picture according to the seller was from professional restorers from the museum.

They could hardly remove the signature or the author's painting))

They removed layers of a newer painting, according to the seller.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

From what I understood above the photo is AFTER the cleaning and AFTER re-application of NEW varnish....if I understood correctly.......I also didn't realize from what SSlava's saying they (restorers??) removed an overlaying painting....????

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

There is a new program out there in the photo editing world that I would LOVE to have....it's not very expensive, it's just that my computer may need a significant amount spent on it to support the program and I'm not really that sure I want to spend that much on what's essentially a "toy".......for me!!!!! But the program intuitively adds in pixels SO REALISTICALLY - it's amazing!!!!! At least when I watched the demo on it!!!!
    Nuff 4 me....Nitey nite all!!!
