I like that they match and one can go on each side of a doorway.

I’m trying to learn more about them, mostly approximate date.

I vaguely recall from another thread (that I now can’t find) that the marks on the back from drying are important. What is the name for this so I can search to learn more?

The plates have 3 sets of three marks on the back and on the reverse side (the front) in the same place 3 marks (one in 3 places).

It’s also a different shape plate than most Blue Willow plates and the printing seems meant for a truly round plate. Cheap late 19th/early 20th century transfer ware? I’m pleased with it either way as I think it looks nice and like having two matching : -)

    Many thanks!

"Stilt marks", "kiln spurs", "kiln support scars" are all descriptions for the small marks in the glaze. They are caused by the use of stilts/supports placed between each plate when stacked in the kiln. They prevent the plates from sticking to each other, but removing them can leave those small scars.
