Hello All, this badly damaged ring should have belonged to a relative, probably lived in NYC. I guess in the early 1900s on. I was wondering what age etc anyone could say. It is stamped 14 k PLAT. For along time I had the broken piece, but somehow lost it, but there were no marks there. Thank you for looking! I think early 1900s would be right for the style. 14k plat is 14k goldplated.
It was a nice ring, any idea what you are going to do with it now?

Thank you for the information, Any! I don’t suppose much could be done with it. What do you think?
And I forgot to ask, was this a woman’s ring? It was very large.

If the top piece where the diamond is set is white metal, most likely the ring base is 14K with a platinum piece on the top. The ring can be straightened and the missing piece can be replaced by a competent goldsmith.

I don't know. Let a jeweler look at the stone. If it is quality, you can see if the central part can be made into a pendant maybe? Is it silver?
Could you post a photo of the stone and setting? Also the back of the stone, please.

Do you think it is a diamond? I can't really tell right now. If it is, it could be platinum set.

14K Plat means 14K gold with a platinum head, rather than plated. I agree with Holly, this is fixable.

The stone looks round, so maybe brilliant cut, but I can't see the back of the stone. I always have trouble seeing what things actually are when they are that small.

Hunting, the easiest way to photograph a piece of jewellery is the lazy way.;) Just put it on a white piece of paper in a well-lit place (daylight). That way you don't have to hold it and you can use both hands to steady and focus the camera, or phone.

Thank you, if I decide to have it made into something, I will ask about the stone. I don’t have a tester. Finding a jeweler might be difficult. Thank you.
