Seeking info on this wood box with brass figures, turquoise & coral

    I am thinking maybe Tibet area? It has coral and turquoise stones on the lid and brass figurines and decorations, some of which have fallen off. Probably tourist stuff?

    It looks like a spice box with Buddhist images. From the Himalayas. Most Himalayan artifacts in the West are from Nepal, much more than Tibet, so that is the safest bet. Made for local use, but they also ended up as souvenirs, like any Himalayan artifact.
    The coral and turquoise look like glass, which is usually the case with these boxes. Real coral and turquoise are used for silver boxes.
