Sepia photograph of pipe smoking scholar, author? handsome!

Good afternoon! delightful day here in CT. Framed under glass sepia photograph mounted on paper. The man is quite handsome (i think). Perhaps Jewish ancestry?

I can't really help, but not totally off track, back in the late 19XXs I was having a portrait done in a rather fashionable photo studio and I had a cigarette in my hand. The photographer took a few shots, then took my cigarette and stuffed a pipe in my mouth and said "Let's take a few this way"............I have never smoked a tobacco pipe in my life, but there is a studio portrait of me with a pipe..............

He looks a lot like a friend of mine with an American mother and Japanese-american father. Also a bit like John Lennon.(LOL) Hard to say.
