I have this 19th century glass, from the decoration I would think Bohemian. The coat of arms seems to be related to Serbia? It has an inscription on it, can anyone decipher it?
    Thank you very much,
    Mat

    Present, Dave.
It is indeed our coat of arms with four letters S facing away from each other and a cross inbetween. Crown is the one of Karadjordjevic Dynasty.
The writing is however in russian and says: spomenЬ, meaning mementos.
Use of written russian was usual in Serbia all through 19th century.

I think I have a positive id on this glass.
Can I ask for the height?

Thank you so much, Makanudo, I have forgotten to measure it and I am am not at home at the moment. It is relatively tall, I would think about 14-15 cm. Later I will post the exact height. So would it be a kind of souvenir from Serbia?

Let me know when you measure it.
It may just as well be the real thing and very valuable.

What I found catalogued with a photo(black&white) and a detailed description matches your photos except for this height.
What I found is catalogued as 13.5cm heigh moulded glass with red enamel like applications and a goldplate, with the same detail as in your glass

For mine I would go up to 13.3 cm, so it is pretty close. I was a bit in a hurry measuring it. May I ask what it is that you found?

Of course you can, but I told you. Glass, very similar to your is listed in a national collection here in Serbia, with a description , as I wrote, that matches what I saw in your photos, dating 1846-1852, as well as where it was made in Serbia.

That really looks like a perfect match! You said the description names also the place in Serbia where it was made? Could you tell me which place that is? That would be interesting, as it would then not be of Bohemian manufacture...
Thank you very much for all that information and posting the scan! :)

Well your sources are mostly right(in case it is indeed an original, which I cannot say). The piece that is now in a museum collection in Serbia was made in town of Jagodina. The glass factory there(which was one of the first factories in Serbia) had been founded by Avram Petronijevic in 1846 and it had functioned until 1952.
It had employed all the foreign specialty workers, Bohemians and Bavarians.
Many nice pieces are preserved from their endevor.
I made one error in my identification. The sign on the glass has been re adopted as a national coat of arms in that colours by the Milos Obrenovic.
