Featured Seriously? Are these hand sewn booties made of celluloid?

These are made of what looks like cut up pieces of sheet celluloid - the kind that used to be used on the back of hand mirrors, etc. Have you ever seen any like this before?

Hi Book, sure looks like it could be nothing other than hand sewn!

Have you ever seen anything like this? It seems like an awful lot of work for such an odd decoration.

I forgot to say, they are the size of small real booties.

How very odd! I would imagine celluloid, if that's what they are, would be far too brittle & unforgiving for real shoes. Might these be for a doll, or perhaps even a little decorative or souvenir item of some sort?

I think they must be decorative. They are too delicate to be worn, even by a doll.

Souvenir or something or other. With that string between, they could be a Christmas ornament. That would make total sense; the light weight could hang over a natural tree branch.

Yes Any - they are. I admit, I really like them - that's why I bought them.
But - I'm still amazed that someone thought to make them. :hilarious:

Maybe I'll put them on my tree.

Or hang them over the rear view mirror of your ultra-light Celluloid car.

They'd be a great tree ornament, as long as kept away from any heat. They look in great condition for something so easily damaged.

There's a crack all the way up the back of one.

I forgot about the heat - I better not chance it.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! I really forgot about that!!!!!!!!:eek::eek::eek:

I was just thinking they'd get warped, not that my tree would go up in flames!

If you have LED lights, you'd be OK. The other ones...maybe not.

I've been known to wear those battery operated necklaces, so don't think we wouldn't!
