Hi, this settee has been in the family since early 1950s. It was reuphostered about that time. Sadly I don't know that much about it, except was told it was from the 1800's and is hand carved cherry. There are no markings that I can find. Any ideas on this? Thanks.

Hello and welcome to the board.

Mid to late 1800s seems correct.
Wood looks too dark for cherry, but I guess it could be stained.
It deserves a much richer upholstery.

Just my opinions. Wait for other comments

Think a tad later ….. Edwardian. More likely mahogany than cherry or lesser wood stained to mimic mahogany.
