This is a RPPC of my gg-grandparents' family farm in Visselhövede, Germany:

    Bremer Affwinkel Farm, Germany.jpg

My great-grandfather & one of his brothers left Germany for NYC in 1883. The people in the photo are their other brother, his wife & their 2 sons.

The elder son, 2nd from right here, was killed in WWI.

This postcard is c.1969 view of a portion of downtown Toledo, Ohio. The Tiedtke's store holds a special place to me. This store was way ahead of its time in many ways. It was 4 floors plus the basement. You could get anything from toys, to clothes for the whole family, to tires for your car, to specialty food items & get the shoe repair guy to resole your shoes. They had a small lunch counter by the front door where you could get a hot dog & a full service cafeteria in the back of the store. My Mother worked there for approximately 10 years in the kitchen. She baked all of the pies, from scratch of course, for the cafeteria, the lunch counter & the bakery department.

This one isn't a postcard, it is a Trade Card that I got about 10 years back. I have always found the "Ladies' and Gents' Oyster Rooms" portion slightly amusing. I have always wondered what exactly was an oyster room & what exactly happened in these rooms. ;):p:rolleyes::eek::D:D:D:D
