Featured Shelley England teacup question

    Normally the numbers on the bottom will be the maker's design number and the shape number. In your cup's case 12086 is the design and 28 is the shape number for the cup.

    The decor appears to be transferware.

    The handwritten numbers are the pattern, the mark below is the decorator's mark, so they'd get paid. Your design was registered in around 1896.

    I believe the shape of your cup is commonly called “dainty”.
    What a pity about the missing saucer.

    Same British Design Registration number, though it is not decorated with the same transfer. So the number may be for the shape.

    A fair number of these around here -- the shape is known as "Dainty.". Although registered in 1896, it could have been made quite a bit later as it was a popular shape for many years.
