Featured Shop Scale 10 kg

    A1C27489-A261-4DB3-ACC0-89082D0FC0A5.jpeg C9824532-16FA-4618-BDDE-512ABAF44D9F.jpeg I couldn’t resist this cast iron scale at auction today. I specialise in ceramics so don’t know much about this sort of thing but felt that it was too nice to miss.

    I imagine that it is continental (10kg) and pre WWII. Can anybody tell me anything about it?

    Wet Fish shop, Fishmonger.

    Probably explains the rust from salt water, might have been enamelled originally.

    There must be a mark or stamp somewhere on the back of hardware in the middle

    I can imagine, it is a beauty. Maybe late 19th century?

    Makes you want to be a fishmonger, doesn't it.:playful:

    I agree that it was used at the market and my reason is 10kg limit. Household scales of that type usually are 5kg. At least one I have is 5kg.
