I bought hundreds of pounds of shop-made machinist’s tools/instruments in one lot so I know they all came from the same place. But at first I had no idea where they originated since the seller was a surplus dealer who doesn’t tell, if they even know, where the stuff comes from. These tools were all made individually by machinists/tool and die makers as opposed to production lines. Many were apparently made because commercial equivalents may not have been available, or to have a more robust device with foolproof settings for use in repeated milling or grinding set-ups.

I found one maker’s obit within minutes (he put almost his full name on his work) and maybe knowing that he worked in New Jersey will help find a few more. If you like matching stuff to people, your help would be greatly appreciated, I have to focus on putting the tools back to work making things.

Good thought, I certainly have enough of this stuff to make some “creations.” Only some the types of tools in the many boxes are shown, I left out all the parallels, sine plates, and mystery tools. Might acid-etch some too.

Personally, I found the image online, I think (who knows...MAYBE I got it from YOU!), but I think you could make a fortune making and selling THESE....or something LIKE!!!!!

Yes I did post that, found the pic online. The round things are of course socket wrench sockets, one needs a source of lots of them, and that cost would add up pretty quick unless a used source was located. Huge wrenches I have, in quantity, the other things might have to be various sizes of hex nuts.

That table is just begging for a man cave, or pride of place in a really high end car dealership. It wouldn't fit into my house, but a really modern loft would work.

    .

    The Hunter bags another trophy!

I definitely wondered why that item had such a commercial-trademarkish-looking “signature” and even started looking for Mickey Finn himself, but you ended that hunt nicely!

Thanks, that site is now my 12,326th bookmark. Fortunately some of the browsers on my computers have a search feature, I’m too lazy to organize them into files by subject. Just recently floated into The iCloud so bookmarks and some other things should be synchronized. Not used to it yet.
