Thoughts on this recent thrift watercolor? It seems very nicely done (was instantly drawn to it) but I cannot find a single work by this painter. Signed L.S. Anderson. There are a number of paintings by "Les Anderson" but they are not signed like this and I don't think the same artist but could be wrong. Any luck finding this artist or just a Sunday painter?

There is a moisture damage on the mat, but the painting seems okay, maybe a tiny bit buckled but not too bad. Thoughts?

May be the work of a non-professional but certainly done by someone with training and talent.

Thank you, Debora. Was thinking the same, it seemed to have some skill for sure. So odd I can't find a single other work by this painter. Completely striking out on my research. But not the end of the world, but always nice to learn who the artist is. :)

    I really like your painting.
It's hard to believe that a capable, fairly recent artist like that has zero footprint on the internet, even if they were amateur. I can't find anything.

Same here. I couldn't find one other work. Kind of a mystery.

I wonder if painted by a woman started using a new married last name or something? Hard to believe this was the only painting they ever did.

    Thanks for taking a look.

It almost gives a Japanese woodblock vibe, doesnt it ? Couldnt find an artist either. Pretty thing nonetheless.

Yes, it does. And the 86 date surprises me a bit. Would have thought it was earlier.

    Fantastic scene.

Lucille, it may be a dumb question but have you tested the pH of the matting?

If you decide to replace the aperture, that might be a great time to make sure that the rear matting is acid-free. The aperture appears a bit yellow, however that might just be from the lighting in your pictures.
