I recently acquired this ring, and I'm not sure of the age.
The Greek key design on the shoulders is hard to pin down.
It's fun to wonder who "H" was.
1880s? 1940s? Any insight is much appreciated!

Sometime in the last 100 years unless there is a dateable maker's mark on it.

Given the strong geometric motif, I'd think sometime in the Art Deco era.

Thanks @Debora! I was thinking 1920's-30's too, but I wanted to get more opinions.

I don't think it's as old as it wants to be, but...dunno. Since that's one of my initials I'd just wear it and not worry about it.:)

When were cigar band rings in fashion?

How many pieces of jewelry have you made?Without an original sales slip,an identifiable maker's mark, etc. no one can date pieces.

I see that you have experience making jewelry.
Next question.... If a piece of die stamped jewelry was made in 1920 and the same die was used to make the piece today, how would you date it?

    Easy...you said it was made today...so I'd date it May 4th 2020 !!

I wasn't aware we had to pass tests here to voice an opinion !!:inpain:

Oh.....& May the 4th be with you !

Thanks! A lady from the Zuni Pueblo here in New Mexico taught me silversmithing about 17 years ago. It's a lot of fun, especially for a joolie like me!

It's not my initial, but I thought the curly script was pretty!

I would think for an older ring...the script might be more...flowery !

    ...1920's
