    Any significance or none?
I’ve googled but the search term is too wide!
    Not my beads, just interested.
    Thankyou :)

I’ve got it in my mind that there is some significance to it but I can’t remember what or where I read/saw it. :banghead:. Going to bug the hell out of me now!

Muslim prayer beads come that long. IIRC. Or is it Buddhist? The red beads might mark a break of some sort.

2 beads, I only know this, but it seems to me that there are more than 108.

Most often, Buddhist rosary has 108 grains, but rosary with a different number of beads can also be used, usually a divisor of 108: 54, 36, 27, 18 or 21. Prayer beads with 108 grains often have pendant separators after the 36th and 72nd beads (or different from other 36 and 72 beads).

I believe Muslim prayer beads usually have either 33 or 99 beads, and do have a marker bead.

Thankyou. I’ve now found a few using those search terms and it certainly looks like that is the reason.

An Islamic tasbeh/tesbih looks like this, with a long bead, and often a tassel at the end of the long bead:

A Hindu/Buddhist mala also has a defined 'guru' or 'Buddha' bead and tassel, but the central bead is usually not as long as on the tasbeh:

Think of the central beads as similar to a cross on a Catholic rosary, a focal point in contemplation. Without a distinct central bead it is a necklace.
It also looks too long to be prayer beads of any kind.

Some cultures, Navajo for example, add one "imperfection".

    Not in jewellery.;)
This necklace has at least two red beads and one spot where there are two spacer beads together, so that would make it three imperfections. Or three ways for the spirit to get out.;) Or three spirits.:wacky:
