Featured Silk embroidery

    Hello! Can anyone tell me anything about this piece? There's no signature or identifying markers. The back of the frame is sealed up. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Clyde L. Smith's frame shop was in business in 1969 but closed by 1972 so that would your latest date.

    AVB, could you please go back to edit and click on full image for the photos?
    My computer is slow and refuses to show the photos if I click on the thumbnails. Just guessing, am I looking at a Japanese embroidery?

    Hi there - looks like a late 19th/early 20thC Chinese silk embroidery. Likely originally from a scroll set.

    While it is best that photos be shown full size, thumbnails can be accessed more rapidly by clicking on the link beside the image - opens the picture in a new window.

    I would have guessed this to be computer generated, but given the dates for the framing, I guess that's unlikely.

    It's very nice.
