Featured Silver 925 brooch w/green stone. What kind of stone?

    Not an antique, but might be vintage. Faintly marked "925" on the pin clasp.

    Any guesses as to what kind of stone here? Slightly translucent when held to light.

    Jade, I should think. And older than you might guess with that clasp and hinge. I suspect Scandinavian.

    Oh, that would be nice! I wondered if that clasp might be a clue as to date.

    It's very well made. Might even be 1930s.

    Indeed, but Scandinavian silver makers are still using that leaf and floreate style. so are some Scottish jewellers.

    I have a pin sitting here with that same hinge and a .950 mark. It's not horribly old but I'd imagine that hinge is still in use so it doesn't mean much. I'd have guessed 50s on it rather than 30s; the construction just has that feel to it.

    On second look, wrong pin, but I've seen that hinge before.
