Am I allowed to get excited about this?
Found in another box of scrap jewellery at a car boot sale. At first I thought it was just another piece of bling with glued in pink glass stones but I scooped it up as it was speaking to me :hilarious:
The more I look the more interesting it is. Its 8cm long and all the stones are gemstones although Mary Contrary is a little coy about committing herself. There are several different colours from clear to greenish but the majority pink?
All prong set , sadly missing a few. Each stone is individually shaped to fit the cup. It tests as silver except for the plain dangle on the bottom which is base metal but the top looks to be gold plated.
Could this be Austro Hungarian as it looks like a bit of a mixture of styles or am I looking at something else?
    Thankyou for any clarification:)

Absolutely! It is a beauty, and could have considerable age. I think it is Georgian, but let's wait for the others.
You are looking at something else.:playful: I think you should look much closer to home.

Well it’s on my kitchen table at the moment :hilarious:. Is it British? I thought the bow was quite British but the rest of the clues I’m being dim about

The bow as such isn't British btw.
Pendants used to hang from silk bows, but ca 1600 those filthy rich Dutch began to make gold and silver bows on pendants instead. This was around the same time that the Dutch made diamond studded jewellery rather than the typical Renaissance enamel and Baroque pearl jewellery. For about 50 years (or more?) they were leading in the world of Western jewellery, and the Dutch fashion spread to the rest of Europe.
The bow concept was brought back in several later periods, the way design cycles go.

The closed backs are one reason Mary is being Contrary.

It was a time called the Dutch "Golden Age".;)
Now a controversial term because although Holland and several other provinces prospered, most of the people were poor, and the south and east of the Netherlands were devastated by extreme cruelties during the war of independence against Spain.

If the Georgian period is 1740-1830/7, where on the timeline could this sit?

I reckon that's late 18th and maybe old paste. But I'd be very tempted to get a jeweller with a really good tester to look at it. White sapphire and pink tourmaline is also a thing.

Yes Georgian, and the stones may be paste, like @Ownedbybear says.
This is a fabulous piece @KSW! Your homing skills are extraordinary!

Looks like paste from here, but you never know what some crazy Georgian jeweler got up to.

    kyratango Bug jewellery addiction!

    18th century no doubt!
Could be French, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch...
Pastes with pink foil IMO, some may have been replaced, lots deteriorated with dampness and age.
Those were made too with chrystoberyls and pink topaz!
