026-SILVER-BADGE-MEDAL-ORIG.jpg M.B.W. engraved on the front center. Wigglework engraving outlining and edging. Measures 1.75 inches by 1.75 inches.

    015-SILVER-BADGE-MEDAL-ORIG.jpg
Engraved "Hillivi"(?) 19 15/2 21 on the back.
What does the 15 over 2 mean?

Five hallmarks/maker's marks in a horizontal row. Looks like:
    1. CU inside a rectangle
    2. M inside a square
    3. three crowns inside three half circles
    4. S inside a hexagon
    5. T7 inside a rectangle

I don't know if this is military, club or other organization. Thanks in advance for any info and ideas.

The badge is Swedish; the hallmarks say so. The T7 means it was made in 1921, just like the engraving. Hillivi is a Swedish man's first name. Beyond that....dunno.

I wonder if "15 over 2" means the fifteenth (15th) day of February (2nd month) in the year 1921. ;)

Does anyone have any ideas of whether this is a badge or medal?

I've been coming up blank trying to find this shape and the meaning of MBW.
Would this be categorized as an iron cross?

Should I go to the military section with this now that the hallmarks are all ID'ed?

It is not an Iron Cross as in Prussia, German empire or WWI & WWII etc.
    Not military.

It could be either a badge or a medal.

It's a Maltese cross, referring to the shape rather than the origin of this particular piece. It's been used for all sorts of things for centuries.

Thankyou Davey and thankyou evelyb30. Maltese Cross is a good clue. More Googling!

It's really more a cross pattée variation than a Maltese cross, and I think unlikely to be anything more than a decorative pin/brooch that a Swedish lady named Hillivi gave to 'M.B.W.' on the occasion of something like a birthday, christening, anniversary, etc.

@DragonflyWink That makes sense, too. But maybe visa-versa since Hillivi is a mans name...? I was stuck on the idea that this was the emblem and initials of an organization, club or military.
