Just found this in a drawer...did some research...on the mark J.S. Co . Coming up with Jennings Silver Co (my best bet)....but some other sites...say Joseph Seymour.
    Mark is J.S. Co..maybe Indian Head Sterling Pat'd 1920? (though looks like 1820) 5 1/2" Long

Please excuse my not so great , quickie photos.

Anything you can do to get more light on the mark?

Clearer mark (this one says 1920, I think)

Thanks for that, INH! I am now of the firm belief that the "JS" is actually the script IS for International Silver - The Indian head was their logo at the time.

Wonder all you want - someone clueless got it started and it took on a life of it's own. Rest easy that you know "the TRUTH!" Jennings Silver Co made very little sterling flatware.

I have a set with similar markings, but I don’t have an Indian head.

Well, I guess that since you said "similar markings" I was expecting something more than just "Sterling Handle." Can you show a picture of the handle design? The whole thing please?

Now I see that you were posting another pic while I was typing. The W with crescent moon is the trademark of Watrous Silver - a division of International Silver. That's why the IS and the W appear together.
