I got this at a estate sale over the week end. At first I thought it was the top to a trophy because it has a small screw in the bottom of 1 front hoof and 1 rear hoof; but it is too heavy for that.
Any ideas what this is/was for? Maybe for those old clocks with a horse on it?
    Thanks

The rider looks as if there should be something in left hand, maybe.

Looks similar to the others; missing reins; nice positioning of foot in stirrup and leg on saddle, but he is riding an English hunter saddle. May be from a hunt club or hunter jumper trophy.

To ME, that statue, or rather the rider, mostly, looks VERY awkward!! She (look at the bust!) I think is missing a crop in her left hand ALONG with the missing reins. I was also taught to ride with heels down/toes up and stirrup not so far back towards the heel, if I was to be picky!!!!! She also kind of looks like she's sitting in a child size saddle, and the tail looks to have been broken off at one point in the first image......... sorry......but that's what I'm seeing......did you say it's silver???

Have to agree with @anundverkaufen, it is Weidlich Bros. Mfg. Co.

Funny thing is, I got this bird at an estate sale this past weekend too(actually she picked it out). 14”

Well to be fair, 20’s-50, it seems the company didn’t survive after the death of the second brother in1950. :)

On the first link, scroll down to “Historic Information” link.
The second link is not broke, just scroll down a page, hehehe
Additionally, the third link is a great site for American silver company marks. You will see the two for Weidlich Bros. On this link under “W”.

That is exactly what I said...:nailbiting:

I’m guessing the birds look a lot happier when they are together in a set :hilarious::hilarious:, those are beautiful. I only seem to have one of the two :bigtears:

I agree with you but how many non-riders would recognize the fine points of riding?

There is a screw in 1 hoof & the other 1 is missing; any ideas how to remove it - or leave it in case buyer wants to put it back on a base?
Is it sterling silver plated (I read something where 1 said it was)?
    Thanks for the help!

I have never seen a Weidlich piece that looks like silverplate. More likely nickel or something.

There is no sterling in silverplate (except for rolled plate)
