Big Tankard About 8" to top of lid, 4.25" Bottom Diameter. 1929 Louisville Benefit Horse Show Award. Only Mark I can find is LS 277- maybe a 1 or another 7 for last no. Later scratched 27/320. Unfortunately, the interior has damage, shows rust. My questions are what to do about inside and anyway to Id maker. I took pix as found.

Looks like it was made of copper, see if a magnet will stick to it.

Is that the horse's name as the winner? :hilarious:

Now that I'm able to stop laughing about the name, where is the LS277 on the piece? I don't see it in the pictures.

Apparently the 'Peavine' line has been respected in the American Saddlebred community since 'Rex Peavine' in the early 20th century (and I won't judge, since my beloved Appaloosa gelding's registered name was 'Magnolia's Honey Eagle', and all from his stable bore the 'Magnolia' moniker)...

Holly Blue - a magnet will only stick on the bottom - would the copper be under the silver as in silver plate

GMA - I had the numbers wrong - I worked for some close-ups.
Do they look like owner id marks opposed to a silversmith's marks?

DFW - Thank you for the Peavine information

Those scratchy marks appear to be owner id marks, but wait for another opinion please..

Not repair marks in any way. And unfortunately not any kind of maker's mark either. Something with meaning only a former owner could decipher.
