Silver plate (?) tray,a little help ?

Hi all. Picked up this 8x6 tray that tests silver,but I can find no marks. I know that usually means its NOT,but Im so confused ! I recently found an 800 silver frame at Ill Will with the tiniest mark imaginable,so I keep looking. It just feels like silver,if that makes sense. Its engraved "Friendship Trophy...Son Vida G.C. v. U.S.S. Nimitz...Palma De Mallorca...14th January 1987" . I cant find anything about what this is in reference to,so any and all suggestions are appreciated.

 

A lot of 80's silver plate came out of Spain, so with no other marks visible, I would be prepared for this to be plated.

Perhaps the inscription relates to a "friendly" sports competition between a local team and the crew of the Nimitz?

Ha,I guess thats what the GC stood for ! I was thinking a naval term !

 

I've seen a fair few USN ships moored off Palma. Lovely place.
