This is one of Dads metal detecting finds. It’s a bit of a mystery to me as it’s quite big at 2inches diameter so I’m not thinking watch fob and because of the design likely not a mans 1970s jewellery medallion. Flower prize at a Agricultural Show maybe? The chain is base metal. Any ideas of use please? Thanks.

A lot of things worn as fobs were that big. I'd cheerfully wear it as a pendant if I found it! No clue how old it is or where it came from.

    Thanks for having a look.
Likely to remain a bit of a mystery for what for and when made.

    It’s very sweet!. Great find.
I got my OH a metal detector for his birthday and one of my clients has just said he can detect anywhere he likes on their huge estate. He is very excited as it’s got a rich history of Roman settlement, a disused railway line and station and fields that are used every year for a big sporting event!.
He’s just got to stay away from a scheduled monument that Time Team excavated a few years ago and a couple of small scheduled area in the woods that are barrows.

@KSW Think it would be great if you could go together, take turns to dig! I occasionally went along with Dad, I’ve inherited his detector and I would recommend something to take the weight of the detector when you are swinging it as it does get very tiring for your arm and shoulder.

One of those ground-penetrating radars sounds like a better idea. They roll on four wheels.

Arial shots are a great way to spot old walls and foundations and roads and such. (innocent face)

Not a chance. The neighbours are paranoid as it is. She attacked me yesterday demanding to know why we were filming them, I had not the faintest idea what she was gibbering on about until she showed me the photo of the spinner on the top of the chimney that pulls air through the wood burner. When I pointed out what it was and offered her an up close guided tour to prove it she did have the grace to blush.
I do wonder why they are so jumpy, wouldn’t be surprised if there is a Marijuana factory in there to be honest. I’m not normally rude about people but she is very odd.

Hm. I wonder if this is a horsey person thing. My horse fiend bestie's neighbour is also deranged! Perhaps they seek you out. ;)

Ruth, I love aerial archaeology. Whenever there's a drought here, all sorts of things show up in fields. Entire Roman villas.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

A watch fob for a flower lover? Perhaps.

Is that the flower seller from My Fair Lady?

I think she's what they based that scene in My Fair Lady on.
