Featured Silver UK Pocket Watch Fusee Assistance with Date Code

I picked up this pocket watch, I think it is a fusee lever set improved detached (whatever the heck that means). Anyway, I am struggling to match up the date code. The photo includes all the stamps on the watch case. These are the only marks I noted. I have been able to narrow down the case maker, given the works are not signed, who is Edward Walker and his mark was registered as follows 1836
    (registered Jul 1826 & 1830, 1835, 1836).

Amazingly, the watch is a beauty for its age and running like a champ.

    Thanks for your help!

Where is the monarch's head duty mark in the pictures, Davey?

I read an article this morning while I was researching that said that pocket watch cases (gold and silver) weren't marked the same way that jewelry and other items were and didn't always use the same punch shape outlines, and was not uncommon for them to not have all the stamps. It was quite educational and provided examples.

Thanks so much @daveydempsey that mark is in my books, but I clearly missed the comparison when I was looking. Going back and looking, I believe this is a match! The example you provided was exceptional and I appreciate it mucho!

Looks to me that the case is from Birmingham, 1843 (U) plus another mark (V) from 1844 with the EW. See 925-1000.com. Edward Walker was in London, not Birmingham, so I would guess not his. Wonder if the case was repaired and two cases put together, thus two date stamps? Anyway, that doesn’t tell you who made the watch. The correct way to read the engraving is Improved Detached Lever escapement. I can’t see the fusee, but maybe it is there?

Could be, the pictures look like a combination of the two marks.

I appreciate that. It is quite possible it is a repaired case. Yikes, more research...lol I'm a gonna have to research this a bit harder as I found an example of Edward Walkers mark with the Birmingham marks that are like the ones on this case. The fusee is behind the gears. It is about wound down so the chain is not visible - crazy the stuff they could make....

Very nice find. I did find a small blurb about an EW in: http://theoldwatchword.blogspot.com/2016/; in the 4th paragraph. This EW was an Ironmonger but his association with a clock maker and a watchmaker in 1825 puts him in position to have become, or possibly was, a watchmaker in his own right.
