Featured Silver ? What was it used for? Have never seen a mark like this.

    Side 1.jpg Side 2.jpg Mark 5.jpg Mark 4.jpg It is 3" tall at the side, 5 3/8" with handle. Allegorical theme? Strange marks. Thanks for any ideas. Patd

    Agreed. Looks like one of the Georg Roth mark examples and the footnote there about the firm's use of piercing is also of interest.

    It's not necessarily for a specific use. It's just a basket, but you can do a lot with "just a basket!"

    I do not see any allegorical significance in the two scenes, but many details are not visible. Seeing them might lead to a different interpretation. Trying to look much older than it is.

    I think you nailed it. I even saw marks that look like mine even thou they are hard to decipher.
    Wish I knew wear Grandmother found this piece.

    Typical of Hanau silver, pretty much it’s reason for existing.

    I don't see anything of the marks.
    with those rocailles it would be second rococo as part of the historicism around 1840s to 1880s on the continent. in England they called it Victorian rococo I believe.
