This reminds me of the bulbs in Christmas bubble lamps, where you place the bulb into the plastic holder, then screw the holder into a socket - the bottom of the bulb makes contact with the socket to light up and start heating the liquid, but those aren't solid.

This thing is solid amber colored glass. It measures 1 1/4" across the top and 1 1/2" long. It has a threaded neck. The bottom of the neck is painted red. There is a removable metal collar on it that says patented.

    What is this used for?

We still use glass fuses in the store but ours are hollow with strips of metal in them.

I thought maybe an older version where the strip had disappeared or maybe the paint is conductive material. The top metal collar reminds me strongly of the top of old fuses. I'm no electrician, so this was a guess.

How about the adaptor is in the fuse box itself.

No - that's the metal collar that screws onto the neck - and presumably would screw into some kind of socket.

Yes - only one. I'd have to make a heck of a hole to use it, but it is nice.
