So, here's what I pulled out of the skip yesterday. Not cleaned them much, nor will I, other than getting the cement dust off. Heavy as heck, bronze stands. Lovely patina. How on earth they ended up in a rented house in London, I do not know - but the skip had some Bonhams catalogues in it, as well. Anyhow, would appreciate thoughts on age and what originally sat in those holes on top. And any other comments! God knows what else is in that skip, under the earth, rotten fencing and carpet offcuts.
I hadn't heard of the term skip before lol. So looked it up. Could they be bases for statues or maybe lamps? They are beautiful. Mikey
<groan> OK, they each weight about six and a half pounds. Eight inches by six inches, seven and a half inches high.
If it hadn't got a pile of earth and trees in it now, trust me, my bum would be sticking up out of it! Skips do get sorted a bit at tips, so I hope if there's anything more there, it's found.
I was speed reading, on my other window I was moderating and my third window banning another argumentative rude poster.
I love a man who can multitask. Thanks for banning the argumentative rude poster. Of course I want to know who, I'm nosy.
