I may have this in the wrong section but given the subject and style, I thought this might be the right place may need to go into the art section.? I have what looks like to me a slate carved loon or duck a waterfowl for sure. It is numbered on the bottom. And what looks like a signature to me. Does it look like anyone's work you've seen before?

This is an Inuit soapstone carving. The marks on the bottom signify the carver and the location. There was a government site to identify the marks, but I can't recall what it was called. I'm sure someone else will be along with help.

It is by Annie Appaqaq (born 1949) from Sanikiluaq and is carved from siltstone.

Should I still offer it for sale even though the sticker is missing? I noticed that they recommend they are there, as a garuntee to be authentic?

It is 100% authentic. Not all pieces come with the Igloo Tag or sticker.

Thanks again Mark, I found that while looking for the site Sandra mentioned so it obviously raised some flags for me. Reading what you said puts it at ease though thank you!
