It opens like you think a potato bin would, but why would a potato bin have a beveled mirror?

My next thought was a childs wash stand with a bin for dirty towels?

    What do yall think?

Don't think it would be a wash stand. no place to hang a towel. But I'm not a furniture guy, just saying what I noticed.

Agree that this does not make much sense. Also, why a mirror down so low? Someone's project or cobbled together from old parts? What's the back look like?

Is the mirror beveled or flat?
    The top looks too clunky.
The bin looks like a sugar or flour bin. Not really big enough to hold clothes.

Maybe someone made it to hold dog/cat kibble.

    It's definitely an antique.
It had porcelain Castors and your traditional thin rough cut backing you see on everyday antiques that ran the whole length of the back.
    The mirror is beveled.

At one point it looked as though tin may have lined the bottom of the bin.

    I thought hand/face towels for a nursery..

Salesman sample of a larger bin?
But mirrors weren't traditional in a kitchen and did samples have Castors?

Really need some lighter pics of the details - back, etc.

I still think this is someone's project. The hardware is newer/reproduction. May have used an older beveled mirror to build the rest around.

It reminds me of that heavy repro stuff that was popular in the late 70s early 80s.
