Old glass decorated with 925 silver and amber. (Bernstein is tree stone, the German word for amber.)

that’s a summary, the rest of the description is puffery.

Ok here's the translation from German
This old, magnificent glass lidded box with impressive 925 silver amber fittings/trimming comes from a collection!!! The oval amber with very beautiful inclusions and a beautiful coloring!!! Dimensions of the lidded box approx. Height 14 cm, width 10.8 cm. The amber outfit is approx. 7 cm wide and 5 cm high. The piece is hallmarked with G 925 woman's head looking to the right and WW or MM. The CD lid box is in very nice condition!!! A very beautiful art object!!!
There's a hint here- the mark they describe sounds like. Polish silver mark. Does yours have any markings?

Given the amber and possible marks to look for, I'm leaning towards Poland.

    Thanks so much.
never thought of looking for a stamp but there are two mniscule stamps on the stem one which under magnifing loop i think is a G beside a crown.and within this stamp underneath is a word which i cant read bt think is not english.
the other stamp beside this reads i think H N .
Ive been trying to get a photo of them but there so small its proving very difficult.may be easier in daylight

Am fairly sure now after magnifing under light and comparing polish silver marks, the first stamp is a Gdansk in Poland 925 Silver stamp with womans head not a crown as i first thought.

I wonder might the glass have been made in the same area in Poland then.

Am off to bed now nearly 2am here.will look again in daylight tomorrow.

Thanks for all the help and direction

Glass might be someone like LSA Krosno.

Yes, the style of the silver and amber decoration is typically Polish. They revived that Art Nouveau style and are still making similar AN style pieces.

Bernstein means burn stone, because in Antiquity people used to burn it for its nice scent. Burning amber for a visitor was a sign of respect, much like incense in the Middle East.

(Tree stone would be Baumstein in German.)
