This is about 6 inches tall, metal with glass sides. The reservoir with the wick slides in and out. Any ideas as to age and origin? Is it for kerosene? Decorative value, or anything better than that?
    Thank you.

Very cute. You could easily fill the reservoir with kerosene, or with just regular lamp-oil. You adjust the wick by hand and then light it with a match. It's more of an "oil candle" rather than a lamp. A lamp you can adjust up and down with some sort of external mechanism - this, you just light it and let it burn, like a candle.

    But I reckon it's pretty neat :)

Thank you both. Oil candle rather than lantern makes sense.

I agree, England made quite a variety of these lanterns in the 60's . . . many of which are very nice.
